HEALTHY CHRISTMAS TREATS – EASY CHRISTMAS SNACKS AND DESSERTS

 WHAT ARE CHRISTMAS SNACKS?

Christmas is probably the sweetest time of the year which is pretty much explainable with all the colorful candies and festive treats around! What’s different about Christmas candies is you will see tons of Christmas-themed packaging and colors which ultimately feels as if Christmas is already here. But of course, nothing will beat a homemade Christmas treats! Some classic Christmas snacks you can do at home are:

  • Gingerbread men cookies – these gingerbread men produces a soft, warmly-spiced flavor that kids will love! And of course, let’s not forget the tradition that comes with it: building a gingerbread house!
  • Christmas pudding – Christmas puddings will always be rich in flavor! And the good thing about this is you can make it weeks before the holiday for the flavors to develop.
  • Christmas Santas – if you know how to make your own chocolate at home, then try making chocolate Santas! You just have to shape and add a few designs to it to make it look like Santa Claus!

If you do not have time to make your own, it is perfectly fine! So if you are wondering what other popular Christmas treats to buy, then here are some of them:

  • Candy canes – You will never NOT see candy canes once December comes. Candy canes are so versatile that they can be hung on your Christmas trees or an extra festive display on your dining table.
  • Hershey’s Kisses – Hershey’s Kisses also go on-theme once December arrives! These little, delicious chocolates are perfect for stocking stuffer or gifts!
  • Peppermint bark – Peppermint bark pieces embody the two Christmas flavors: chocolate and peppermint!
  • Reindeer corn – Yes, reindeer corn exists! They are covered with Christmas colors and are created to look like corn kernel pieces.
  • Butter toffee – You will also see butter toffees on some families’ tables which ranges from fudge to bite-sized pieces.
  • Truffles – Truffles are definitely a guest-favorite when it comes to Christmas parties and get-togethers!

WHAT ARE THE MOST HEALTHY DESSERTS?

A dessert will be considered healthy if it still has incorporated nutrients to it while having less sugar and fats. So some healthy snacks and desserts are dried fruits, whole grain crackers, and more! If you are planning to make your own, then the easiest way to make your dessert healthier is by incorporating fruits and vegetables. Fruits have natural sugar in it so your desserts will still have that sweet taste – but in a healthier way! And if you are looking for a sweetener, opt for healthier alternatives such as honey, maple syrup, and agave. It is also good to know that there are healthier alternatives for butter as well and these include coconut oil and olive oil! And if your recipes require flour, try substituting ⅓-½ of your flour with whole grain alternatives. And if you love chocolate in your recipes, then try to use dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate since the dark ones have more antioxidants, fiber, iron, and other nutrients.
